  1. Hi Jenna, thank you for writing.

Brown rice is an inexpensive and healthy whole grain that is packed with minerals and vitamins.
I won't say its better than oatmeal, because unprocessed oatmeal is great! This is just a new creative take on breakfast. Take that brown rice, add a little bit of sweetness and omega 3's from the walnuts and milk and voila, a delicious and super easy new morning breakfast!
"Brown rice is a significant source of manganese, a mineral that helps the body to produce a crucial antioxidant enzyme called superoxide dismutase (SOD). SOD helps to protect mitochondria, the energy producing parts of cells, from free radical damage." says Dr. Andrew Weill. It is also very low in calories and high in great whole grain carbohydrates.
    How to use it!
I make a big pot of brown rice and use it in my meals throughout the week. I make vegetables and tofu with brown rice, fried rice with pork and ginger or put it under chicken curry for dinners. I also use it sprinkled in soups and beneath salads.
